Rok Predin, born on 10 March 1980 in Maribor, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana with professor Metka Krašovec in 2005. He received an Award for Special Achievements, given by the Academy. Currently he is studying for his M.A. degree in painting with his mentors professors Bojan Gorenc and Sergej Kapus. Recently he took part in various student exhibitions. Professionally he presented himself for the first time to the Slovenian audience as a co author of the exhibition "PRIKAZNI" ("APPARITIONS") in the central Slovenian gallery Equrna in December 2007.
His paintings are characterised by a distinctively particular expression, which does not make any differences between macrocosm and microcosm, between the massive imagery of the popular media and the visual rhetoric of an individual's personal mythology, between the fate of the world and the fate of an individual. In his paintings, the addressing in the first person singular is transformed into a personal artistic dialect. This dialect restores the subject's singularity, which in turn becomes obligatory for anyone who approaches the painting. From the painter's point of view the main painting category is freedom.
